Miller at the age of 14 was given choreography and instruction of one of her mother’s dance competition teams. Miller eventually took over the dance studio and renamed it Reign Dance Productions. Miller was certified by Dance Masters of America and was a member of Dance Masters of Pennsylvania Chapter #10 in 1986 however, her membership was ended in February 2012 in the wake of DMA saying that Miller's show on reality TV Dance Moms was "a total misrepresentation of our dance teachers as well as their students. It is harmful to the profession of dance."
